About Rey
Hello my name is Rey Rostro and I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley! I started playing the clarinet in my middle school band at the age 11 and have been in love ever since. Throughout my life, music has always found a way to shine a light in my hardest times and I wish to give my students that same window. Music has shaped who I am and what I aspire to share. In my collegiate education, I have had the amazing privilege to study under Dr. Kimberly Cole Luevano and perform with the UNT Wind Symphony and Concert Orchestra under the direction of Professor Eugene M. Corporon and Professor Clay Couturiaux. Continuing my own private instruction I have also received lessons from the principal clarinetist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Professor Gregory Raden and Stanislav Cherynshev.
I have also taught private lessons in the Dallas, Fort Worth Area for 2 years, during which I've established projects like hosting clarinet masterclasses, lectures, and group fundamental warm-ups!
