My Teaching Approach

Chess is more than just memorizing moves—it’s about understanding the deeper principles behind them. My approach focuses on both tactical and positional play, helping students see the bigger picture on the board. Instead of drilling endless opening lines, I guide you through the logic of strong decision-making so you can adapt to any position.

I emphasize critical thinking and pattern recognition, teaching you to break down positions like a seasoned player. We explore classic games, common themes, and real-life scenarios that sharpen your ability to analyze and respond effectively.

Most importantly, I take the time to ensure you truly understand every concept. I encourage questions, discussion, and hands-on learning, making each lesson interactive and engaging.

My Teaching Method & Techniques

I tailor my lessons to each student’s level and goals, using a mix of:

• Game Analysis: Reviewing classic grandmaster games and your own past games to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

• Tactical Training: Solving puzzles and scenarios that develop your ability to spot combinations and calculate accurately.

• Positional Play: Understanding long-term strategic ideas, such as pawn structures, piece activity, and endgame planning.

• Guided Play: Practicing against me or other students with real-time feedback and analysis.

• Visualization Exercises: Strengthening board awareness and calculation skills without needing a physical board.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Each lesson is structured but flexible, adapting to the student’s needs. A standard 60-minute session might look like this:

1. Review & Discussion (10-15 min) – We go over previous games, puzzles, or concepts from the last lesson.

2. Tactical Training (10 min) – Solving puzzles that reinforce key tactical themes.

3. Concept of the Day (15-20 min) – Teaching a specific idea, such as pawn breaks, outposts, or piece coordination.

4. Practice & Feedback (15-20 min) – Applying the lesson in a game, either through a live match or a guided exercise.

5. Homework & Next Steps (5 min) – Assigning exercises, recommended games to study, or topics for next time.

What Sets Me Apart as a Chess Tutor?

• Tailored Lessons – I adjust my teaching based on your level, learning style, and personal goals.

• Patient & Engaging Approach – I ensure every student truly grasp the concepts before moving on, making learning stress-free and enjoyable.

• Practical, Real-World Training – My lessons prepare you to handle real game situations, not just theoretical positions.

Who Are These Lessons For?

My chess lessons are ideal for:

• Beginners – Those who want to learn chess from the ground up, including basic rules, piece movements, and fundamental strategies.
