About Erick
Former President of the UWA Chess Association, I've decided to set aside some time to teach my beloved game to budding chess enthusiasts. I've been teaching chess to kids and adults and have inspired their love for chess. [Working With Children's Check Certified]

I will teach your child the fundamentals of chess and ensure that they would have the abilities needed to progress further into their chess journey in 10 lessons.
Lessons would be progressive with homework given for your child to understand the lesson concepts.
Adults are welcome as well and lessons would be structured based on your needs.

Erick has been teaching me chess for the past 10 months and my skills have improved exponentially. He is a very talented and patient teacher and I hope to continue learning from him!
I am one of Erick's adult students. We met through uni and he has been teaching me chess since then. It was 2 years ago and I barely know how to play chess then but after all the lessons, my rating has improved a lot, it's over 1700 now. Last year, he took me to a U1500 tournament, hosted by the Chess Association of WA, and I got third place all thanks to him. Erick is a very friendly person and the most patient teacher that I know. He'd answer all my questions and thoroughly explain everything to me. He pays attention to small details so he can easily see through my mistakes and help me fix them. His instructions are very clear and easy to understand too. If you're looking for a friendly, patient and highly skilled teacher to help you with your chess skill, I would definitely recommend Erick.
Having recently gotten into chess I can say with certainty that choosing to take lessons with Erick was the best decision I could have made. The way that the lessons are structured helps me not only understand where my weaknesses are but also how to improve my game.
The lessons are very flexible and Erick is very understanding of any issue. He is able to guide my play in the right direction and I come out of every lesson feeling as though I understand the game a little bit better. I have been surprised at how much I have been able to improve, especially with the homework being so instructive and fun.I have been going to the UWA Chess Club while Erick was in charge there. Despite his busy schedule, he is always passionate to teach me and give guidance in areas I was lacking - he was happy to sit and teach any beginner without asking anything in return. He is the most patient and knowledgeable teacher I have had. I am glad to see him on this platform getting recognised.
