About Sanjeewa

I am a 1900+ FIDE Rated player and FIDE Certified National Instructor. I have more than 15 years of experience as a coach. I won the Equal Championship of Colombo International in 2019. I produced more than 100 Rated players. A lot of players are rated over 1500+.

About the lesson

I am trying to approach every student individually according to their needs, but there are some universal things that I stick to: 1. Understanding of a position (no matter if it’s an opening, middlegame, or endgame) and that means typical ideas, tactical motives, weaknesses, and strengths which the position offers. 2. Combining positional ideas with tactical motives. 3. Finding opening variations that suit the player’s style, and (s)he feels comfortable with. 4. Analyses of the student’s games are of great importance because mistakes have a habit of repeating themselves! 5. I also provide students with working material.

When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?
I started playing chess at age 10. I love to Stay with chess pieces. after few years time it became a part of my life.
Which artists or works inspire you the most?
Bobby Fisher, and Garry Kasparov legends of chess Inspire me. I used to study books written by them.
What are the specific qualities or skills required to succeed in this area?
I'd like to point out that knowledge and experience are Mainly Required. When we work with different Players, we must understand and apply methods that are easy for each level. Day by day most importantly to improve teaching skills.
What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?
Approach things with curiosity. Have an open mind. Think about how things could be improved.
How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?
I love chess, I'm a chess player, coach, and Arbiter. I like to see smiles on my student's faces after victory. it will encourage me a lot.
What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?
I worked with many kids of different ages. But most I like to say few students who compete at the world level and increase their ratings. I am proud of them. Every small victory of my students I like to say I'm proud.
Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?
Yes, one of my students asked me to help to improve middle-game attacking skills. then I did a few sessions and game a good book to refer to. after a few months in a tournament, he won against a very strong player with a brilliant attack to his opponent's castle. we we discussed it, I identified that he got to use a book every day and it is used to improve his skills.
Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?
Day by Day I try to improve my Knowledge, Improve teaching skills, and Creating New Materials for students. Listening to students and parents will give us a chance to understand their requirements.
