About Quinn
I have 8 years of experience teaching chess and hold a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science and Strategic Decision-Making. My teaching journey spans working with children, teenagers, and adults, helping learners understand both the technical and psychological aspects of the game. I emphasize analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and strategic awareness, guiding students to become confident, thoughtful players.
My teaching philosophy focuses on patience, adaptability, and encouragement. I create lessons that are engaging and tailored to each student’s abilities, combining practical exercises with theoretical study. Students are encouraged to explore strategies, experiment safely, and learn from both successes and mistakes, fostering resilience and critical thinking.
Beyond teaching, I actively study game analysis, professional tournaments, and emerging chess strategies to bring fresh insights into my lessons. My chess lessons are designed to help learners develop strategic thinking, tactical awareness, and long-term planning skills. Lessons cover openings, middlegame strategies, endgame techniques, pattern recognition, and opponent analysis. I incorporate interactive exercises, live game simulations, puzzle-solving, and practical match play to make learning engaging and effective. Students are encouraged to analyze positions, predict moves, and understand the underlying logic of the game, fostering analytical reasoning and cognitive agility.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s level. Beginners focus on basic rules, piece movements, simple checkmates, and tactical motifs to establish a strong foundation. Intermediate learners delve into opening principles, positional play, calculation of combinations, and strategic planning. Advanced students study complex middlegame positions, endgame mastery, advanced tactics, time management, and psychological strategies. Every session includes guided feedback, problem-solving exercises, and scenario analysis to ensure continuous improvement.
