About Helen
Chemistry tutor with 6 years of experience teaching college and advanced high school students. Have taught around 220 students, many of whom have excelled in competitive exams and research. My teaching approach for Chemistry is focused on inorganic and bioinorganic chemistry, covering theories, structures, and applications in detail. I explain crystal field theory, valence bond theory, and molecular orbital theory with clear diagrams and examples, including splitting diagrams and electron configurations. I cover coordination compounds, isomerism (geometric, optical, ionization), magnetic properties, colour of complexes, and stability constants. I also teach organometallic chemistry including 18-electron rule, metal carbonyls, ferrocene, and catalytic cycles like hydrogenation, hydroformylation, and olefin metathesis. In bioinorganic chemistry, I cover metalloenzymes like carbonic anhydrase, hemoglobin, cytochrome, and electron transfer proteins, along with medicinal applications like cisplatin. I also include spectroscopic methods like UV-Vis, IR, NMR, and ESR for inorganic compounds. I use case studies from real research and industrial applications to show practical relevance. I provide detailed notes, problem sets, and practice questions for each topic. I assign homework that includes both theoretical and analytical questions. I conduct regular tests and provide detailed feedback on performance. I also encourage students to work on model-building and visualisation to understand 3D structures. My goal is to help you master coordination and organometallic chemistry with confidence and clarity.
