About Sonia
During my last BSc degree in Chemistry I was awarded an Erasmus grant to go to Bath University, and I graduated in 2003 with a First Class Honours degree in Chemistry After that I did a PhD in Organic Chemistry at Bath University.
After the PhD I did research for a year in an oncological hospital and then I worked in a pharmaceutical and dye industry but as I was driven more towards teaching, I qualified as a teacher. I have been teaching Chemistry, Maths and Science since 2016 as a tutor first and currently also work as Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry teacher in a sixth form college in Cambridge.
In addition, I give private tuitions for Maths, Science and Spanish revision.
Therefore, I have experience and a strong subject knowledge of the different Sciences, being familiar with the National Curriculum and the different Exam boards and assessment requirements for GCSE-Science and Maths as well as A-level-Chemistry and Maths.
Previous to this I also taught Science for K3 and KS4 to SEND students.

My passion is to motivate and keep students engaged in a dynamic and fund environment. During the lessons/tuitions I constantly asses my students´ learning progress in order to help them to improve with persistently further practice until they get their target grades. I have been implementing different teaching techniques in order to differentiate, covey progress, inspire, improve their personal organisation and stretch students as well as managing their learning according to their different pace of learning. My teaching methods includes mind maps, creative thinking and thinking through talking, posing open questions, exercise practice, past exams practice, mock examinations, tracking and marking of the homework, tangible/practical experience and use of digital and printed resources as well as e-learning using IT tools from the PC or from the students ´smartphones such as quizzes, Kahoot, drawing charts (Excel) and Google slide share.
