About Troy
My fascination with chemistry began with the study of reactions, compounds, and molecular transformations, which led me to pursue a B.Sc in Chemistry followed by an M.Sc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Over the past 9 years, I have guided learners at multiple levels, emphasising conceptual understanding, practical application, and analytical thinking. My teaching combines clarity, patience, and structured guidance to ensure students not only memorise facts but understand the “why” and “how” behind every reaction.
I focus on connecting theory to practical applications. Lessons include step-by-step explanations, demonstrations, and real-world examples, helping students see the relevance of chemistry in daily life and professional contexts. I encourage questioning, experimentation, and critical thinking to build learners’ confidence and independence.
Outside teaching, I engage in research, laboratory work, and exploration of new chemical methods and innovations, which enriches my lessons and keeps them current. Teaching chemistry is deeply rewarding because I witness learners gain clarity, skill, and curiosity. My goal is to cultivate independent, confident, and capable learners who are prepared to excel in chemistry academically and professionally.

Chemistry becomes both understandable and engaging when learners see it as a system of interactions and transformations rather than abstract formulae. In my lessons, I guide students through reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, kinetics, acid-base chemistry, and practical laboratory applications with step-by-step explanations and real-world examples. I focus on conceptual clarity so students can reason through reactions, predict outcomes, and solve problems with confidence. Each lesson incorporates hands-on exercises, guided problem-solving, and discussions that link theory with practice. My goal is to make chemistry approachable, intellectually stimulating, and directly relevant to everyday and professional contexts.
Lesson plans are tailored to learners’ levels. Beginners focus on fundamental concepts such as atom structures, bonding, simple reactions, and basic calculations. Intermediate students develop understanding in reaction kinetics, equilibrium, titrations, and molecular interactions. Advanced learners explore complex synthesis, organic and inorganic reaction pathways, pharmaceutical applications, and analytical problem-solving. Every session emphasizes reinforcement, critical thinking, and applied learning to ensure steady mastery of concepts.
Chemistry lessons also foster analytical reasoning, precision, and curiosity. Students learn to think logically, approach problems systematically, and develop confidence in experimentation.
