About Maria
Hi, I'm Maria! I'm currently a 3rd year undergrad at the University of Cambridge, studying Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. I have tutored math for over 5 years, working with students both online and in person. I've found that my experience, especially working with 4/5th grade students, has pushed me to find ways to explain concepts in very simple, easy to grasp terms. Working as a volunteer SAT tutor at Schoolhouse.world I had to find ways to tailor lesson plans to large groups of students, so I'm comfortable catering my sessions to your specific needs!

Having worked with many students ages 10-18, I am adaptable to your needs - whether you need help with homework, to prep for your next test, or are simply curious about math, I'm here to help!
I find that in math, teaching by working through lots of examples works best. When first getting to know a student I assess which topics are particularly difficult for them, and have them talk me through their thought process so I can understand what it is about that topic that they find difficult. We then go through examples they have brought me or my own lesson plan for them, working through some examples together before I have them try on their own again.
I like to set a bit of homework after every lesson to reinforce the topics we went through, and talk through it at the start of the next session.
