About Thomas
I spent three years at TwentyFour Asset Management, a London fixed-income boutique, in the operations analyst team — trade booking, fund reporting, EMIR reporting, Bloomberg every day. That means when we get to fixed income or derivatives, I can tell you what these instruments look like when real money is moving, not just how they appear in an end-of-chapter question.
Qualifications: CFA Levels I and II passed; IMC; BSc Economics, University of Bristol (2:1); A-Levels A* Mathematics and A* Further Mathematics. Level III candidate for February 2027.
I've taught before — as a volunteer teaching assistant in a secondary school — and I've just come back to London from eighteen months sailing across the Atlantic and Pacific, which is where I learned that the only knowledge that counts is the kind you can still use when tired and under pressure. That's what an exam room is.

I tutor CFA Level I and Level II candidates, and IMC. I passed both CFA levels recently enough to remember exactly where the curriculum is confusing rather than merely long — and I'm sitting Level III in February 2027, so I'm in the exam with you, not reminiscing about it.
My approach is Feynman's: if you can't explain a concept to someone else in plain words, you don't yet understand it. So lessons are mostly you talking and me asking awkward questions, until the idea is actually yours. We work from your weakest LOS outwards, not front-to-back through the book. For quant-heavy topics (fixed income, derivatives, quant methods) I'll show you the one mechanism behind the ten formulae, because remembering ten formulae is how people fail.
Practical bits: I build a spaced-repetition card deck for every student so the material sticks between sessions, and I'll teach you how to use it. Online via video, or in person in London. First lesson free — we diagnose where you are and agree a plan; no obligation.
