About Darcy
I taught elementary and middle school for about 5 years before merging into the field of Special Needs. I still aspire to teach and help whenever and however I can. I love helping neighbors with their homework and will step in where I am needed. As a behavior therapist, I have a solid understanding that each student learns differently. I understand that people can get overwhelmed and have many tricks up my sleeve to redirect a student to a calm state of mind and learning.

First, I get to know a student and identify how they like to learn. I can teach by example either visually or orally. Sometimes I will walk a student through a math problem or they can walk me through it while they solve it. We will discuss where they are unsure of something and work on mastering that skill before moving on to something new.
A typical lesson plan would start with a fun warm up question. We would touch base, speak of concerns, and then move ahead to the assignment at hand. There would be a lesson on how to solve the problems, including shortcuts to solve problems more quickly and efficiently, and a review before the session is over.
I have 4 years of experience working at Mathnasium and enjoy teaching fun methods of learning to my students.
I like teaching anywhere from Kinder through high school Algebra.
