About Patrick
Since a Junior in University in 1979, I have devoted my professional life to serving the public as a teacher, tutor, and curriculum developer. During over 50,000 hours of one-on-one tutoring practice and in the classroom and laboratory as a course instructor, I have worked to improve my effectiveness and inclusiveness. By maintaining a substantial and cash-based tutoring practice whilst teaching and developing curriculum, my practice has been fueled by much "inside information" about teachers and institutions. As well as a laboratory for my experiments. In addition, I have worked on my teaching and interpersonal skillsets through advanced degree programs and extensive mind training.

My role as a tutor, as opposed to that of a professor, is to develop and maintain an individual, service relationship with clients. During the first, free session, we will develop an effective and flexible Individualized Learning Plan which takes into account previous learning, course and career ambitions, as well as important course and teacher expectations. Also, we will discuss study routines and, if necessary, a coached Khan Academy remediation and practice routine. Tutoring sessions are, of course, student-driven, with your goals and concerns clearly understood upfront. Coursework, test prep, and remediation are completed within a clear, focused, and friendly, "How can I help?" environment. My part is to be mostly inquisitive and conversational, asking questions, reserving any professor-mode content delivery for needed clarification or remediation. And not only homework done, but you will learn the Subject as sessions continue. Enjoy the palpable progress: conceptual understanding furthered, technique developed. My consistent use of vocabulary and visualizations will develop your problem-solving and imaginative skills and the timely and gentle use of a wide variety of learning modalities will strengthen your style. If you like tech, you'll enjoy my generous and stimulating use of current learning tools, such as MathWay, Desmos, and Khan Academy Coaching. And over the years, my own toolkit is extensive. After over 40 years of tutoring, I bring a very particular set of skills and curricula, all painstakingly engineered to work when the textbook or teacher are not of adequate assistance. As for your experience, my approach is light-hearted. I know my place and keep it. I will be careful with your mind. For instance, being mindful not to interrupt you while you are thinking or working. And helping build working memory without painful "cramming".
