About Maithili
I'm originally from India, now based in Cambridge, and my relationship with German began in the most unexpected way — as a hobby. What started as a personal curiosity quickly turned into a passion, and that journey from complete beginner to C2-certified teacher is something I carry into every lesson I teach. I know first-hand what it feels like to wrestle with German grammar, lose confidence mid-conversation, and then suddenly have everything click — and that perspective makes me a better teacher.
After falling in love with the language, I went on to formally train as a German teacher through the Goethe-Institut, one of the world's most respected authorities on the German language. I then went on to teach German as a Foreign Language at the Goethe-Institut for four years, working with learners from diverse backgrounds and at various stages of their language journey. That blend of personal passion, professional training, and real classroom experience shapes everything I do.
My teaching style is hard to put in a single box — I'm patient and encouraging with students who need reassurance, structured and methodical when we're working through grammar or exam technique, and playful and conversational when the goal is building real fluency. Most importantly, I adapt to you — your pace, your goals, your learning style.
Outside of lessons, my love for German culture and language keeps growing — and I enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with my students too.

Hallo! I'm a certified German language teacher with a Deutsch Lehrer Ausbildung (Teacher Training) qualification from the prestigious Goethe-Institut, Mumbai, and a C2 level in German — the highest proficiency recognised by the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
I offer engaging, structured lessons for teenagers and adults, whether you're just starting out or looking to push towards fluency. My teaching covers:
