About Emma
I'm a certified meditation teacher and death doula, with hundreds of hours of experience teaching and coaching meditation, supporting people in grief, and helping people to prepare for death. I first started meditating during a personal crisis in my life. At age 35, my husband was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. We had a 3-year-old son and I was pregnant with the next. I was terrified, heartbroken, and full of rage, which can sometimes get targeted at the people closest to me. And then, of course, I would feel shame for my anger. I knew I needed better coping strategies. So, out of sheer desperation, I started a meditation practice, and, slowly, over time, I started to get a sense of how meditation could ground me, and bring me back to my senses when my thoughts and emotions were spiraling out of control. Through the next few years, my practice deepened. It helped me to be a better mother, and a better wife to my husband as his illness progressed. When he died, it helped me to dislodge some of the negative narratives that tried to creep in with my grief. It helped me to feel more connected. To myself. My surviving loved ones. And even to my husband. It helped me to experience my grief without being controlled by it. Meditation continues to help me live life with more presence, clarity, and kindness. It's always an honor to share the lessons I've learned with others.

There are so many meditation resources out there but most of them are totally impersonal. Weaving them into the messiness of day-to-day life can be challenging.
That's why I offer 1-1 meditation coaching sessions tailored to you and your life. It’s kind of like having a personal trainer for mindfulness. In these sessions, I act as a resource, journey guide, sounding board, and accountabili-buddy.
I use a variety of techniques and can help you bring mindfulness into all the domains of your life but my special areas of focus include:
- Mindfulness for beginners
- Grief and loss
- Working with death, major life changes, and impermanence generally
- Coping with physical pain
- Self-compassion practices

Emma has such a positive vibe and spirit that goes along with her empathetic and informed approach to meditation. I took a series of individual meditation sessions with Emma, and I attend her group events regularly.
