As a certified K–6 teacher with five years of classroom experience, my approach to tutoring focuses on building strong reading skills through individualized, student-centered instruction. I prioritize understanding each student’s strengths and challenges and tailor lessons to meet their specific needs. My methods include explicit phonics instruction, guided reading, comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, and engaging literacy activities that make learning meaningful and enjoyable.
A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous skills, followed by targeted practice in areas like decoding, fluency, or comprehension. I incorporate hands-on activities, read-alouds, and interactive exercises to reinforce learning, ending with a reflection or assessment to track progress.
What sets me apart is my experience working in inclusive classrooms, supporting students with diverse learning needs, and my ability to make reading accessible and fun. I focus not only on skill mastery but also on building confidence and a love for reading.
My lessons are designed for elementary students (grades K–6), including those who need extra support in literacy, students preparing for assessments, or those looking to strengthen foundational reading skills. I adapt my instruction to each student’s level, pace, and learning style to ensure steady growth and success.
