About Emma

Something that I am passionate about is making sure that my students feel loved and cared for. Building relationships is so important as a first step to learning. I love teaching and I want to foster a love for learning in my students. I like to think I am a bubbly, friendly, patient and caring teacher that can create a safe and welcoming environment where my students can succeed in all of their goals.

About the lesson

I am a passionate educator that wants the best for my students. I am goal-driven and want to ensure that my students know that I have high, but realistic, expectations. I use a lot of positive reinforcement and encouragement in my teaching. For my education, I graduated from Queen's University and completed my Bachelor of Arts with a major in English Literature and Language, as well as my Bachelor of Education concurrently. I have taken many additional math qualifications and special education qualifications as well through Queen's University to support my teaching. I am also up to date on the Science of Reading and use this currently in my own class. I primarily love teaching students how to read, write, and solve math problems, but can teach many more subjects like social studies, science, health, and the arts. I enjoy learning about my students and figuring out what makes them unique and using this to engage them in lessons. I currently use many resources and online programs like UFLI, MathUp, Knowledgehook, Happy Numbers, Raz Kids, etc. to support my students. Additionally, I typically use 3-part lesson plans to warm up, teach a new concept and then consolidate learning. Finally, I taught remotely during the pandemic, therefore, I am experienced in remote learning. Overall, I will be dedicated to my students and their goals, while trying to make their learning engaging and interesting!
