Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a blend of evidence-based teaching strategies tailored to the unique needs of my students. My methods include:
Interactive Learning: Incorporating games, storytelling, and hands-on activities to make lessons dynamic and memorable.
Differentiation: Adjusting instruction to cater to individual skill levels, learning styles, and interests.
Scaffolding: Breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, ensuring students build confidence as they progress.
Positive Reinforcement: Celebrating small victories to motivate and inspire a love for learning.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up activity, such as a word game or brief discussion, to activate prior knowledge. From there, we move into:
Introduction: Presenting the day’s learning objective in a clear and relatable way.
Guided Practice: Working together on a reading or writing task, such as analyzing a story or crafting a paragraph.
Independent Practice: Allowing students to apply what they’ve learned through an activity tailored to their needs, like writing a journal entry or answering comprehension questions.
Review and Reflection: Wrapping up with a quick recap or discussion to ensure understanding and encourage critical thinking.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I bring a unique blend of passion, expertise, and personal connection to my lessons. My certification from the ASU teacher certification program ensures that I use the latest, research-backed strategies in my teaching. Additionally, I prioritize creating a warm, inclusive environment where students feel safe to explore, ask questions, and make mistakes. I also incorporate culturally responsive teaching, celebrating students' backgrounds and making lessons relevant to their lives.
Who Are the Lessons For?
My lessons are tailored for 2nd-grade students or children around that age range who are developing their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Whether your child is an emergent multilingual learner, needs extra support in literacy, or is looking for enrichment, I’m here to help them succeed.
Together, we’ll build the skills, confidence, and love for learning that will support your child for years to come!
