• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I started learning Carnatic vocals at an early age and started developing interest towards Violin as I was constantly listening to various concerts. I was enthralled to attend different types of concerts and my interest towards Violin turned into passion for learning the instrument after hearing the violin by Sri.S.R.Mahadeva Sarma Sir accompanying the legend K.J.Yesudas sir.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  Initially, I started teaching for the very simple reason that "Teaching is the best way to Learn more". And I wanted to put that to the test. Definitely, I have learnt a lot during my teaching-learning process and I am still learning. Teaching has always been my passion and I enjoy the experience.

• How does your work help society?

  I want to attract youth towards Carnatic music (Indian music) as there are a lot of misconceptions towards Carnatic music among the youth who are generally attracted towards Western, Pop, Rock, Jazz and other styles of music. I want them to learn, enjoy and experience Carnatic music and open their minds to another world. Carnatic music is grammatically very rich, contemporary, scientific, mathematical and advanced form of music and is known to enhance intelligence, sharpen minds, increase concentration, memory and more importantly make them humble, kind and peaceful (which I have experienced first hand from my learning experience). One can improve or enhance these above mentioned abilities to the core especially by learning an instrument (Violin) which is scientifically proven (Google it). So, my vision is to introduce an instrument especially Violin to Kids (5 - 15 years old) and instill in them moral values and constantly help them improve to achieve excellence in whatever they do. I am in the process of achieving it and there is a long way to go.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  My role model is definitely my guru "Vidwan Sri Kumaresh sir" fondly known as "Fiddling Monk" world wide. He is one of the best human beings I know and I am really grateful from the core of my heart and I am really blessed and honoured to be his disciple. Vidwan Sri Kumaresh sir is undoubtedly one of the finest Violinists (sir literally breathes Violin), amazing composer, a loving teacher and an amazing person.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  One of my main passions is obviously playing Violin. Apart from that, I enjoy cinematography (for my YouTube channel "CarnaTech"), love playing Badminton & Basketball, travelling and hiking.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  When I was a kid and had just started learning violin, one of the senior students of my first guru "Vidwan Sri.Aaradhya sir' was practicing violin all the time. I used to play basketball during evenings and had to pass by his home to reach the court. I would constantly listen to his violin daily for at least twenty minutes as I was very curious. Several days later, his father noticed me standing outside and asked me who I was and why I was standing there. I told him and he let me inside his home to see the senior student practicing violin. That was one of the unforgettable moments. Unfortunately, I had a basketball match that day and never showed up for the game. Of course, my coach and my team went mad at me the next day, fortunately they won the game. :)
