About Skylar
"You likely feel that chemistry is a collection of impossible puzzles, but I view it as a logical system of rules. During my 6 years of experience, I have supported 110 students ranging from absolute beginners to working professionals.
Teaching these diverse groups requires me to adapt my delivery while maintaining a strict, competitive standard. I bring expertise in reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, and complex acids and bases to every interaction. Sometimes the periodic table feels like a foreign language until we connect the trends to physical reality. My teaching style is quite conversational, as I prefer to break down numerical problem solving into manageable, iterative steps.
I enjoy seeing students connect the dots between chemical bonding and real-world electrochemistry. It is a rewarding process when a hobbyist realizes they have mastered a concept they previously found intimidating. I find that my background as an MD Candidate keeps me focused on the most relevant practical applications."
