Hi, I’m Fernanda Roche — a Cambridge-qualified English teacher based in Sydney. My lessons are structured, supportive, and goal-oriented, with a strong focus on helping adults communicate with clarity, accuracy, and confidence in real-life and professional settings.
My approach (how I teach)
I combine communicative teaching with explicit language coaching. That means we practise speaking and listening in realistic situations, while also improving the building blocks that make your English sound clear and natural.
In practice, lessons usually include:
- Guided conversation with targeted feedback (not random chatting)
- Pronunciation coaching (sounds, rhythm, stress, and intonation for clearer speech)
- Vocabulary expansion for more precise, professional language
- Grammar in context (accuracy that supports fluency, without “worksheet-only” lessons)
- Error correction with patterns: you’ll learn what to fix and how to fix it, consistently.
I also use short tasks between lessons when helpful (quick, realistic, and easy to maintain), so you keep momentum and see progress faster.
Typical lesson length
Most students choose 60-minute lessons, which allows time for practice + feedback + a clear plan.
I also offer 45-minute sessions for busy schedules
Qualifications and experience
I’m Fernanda Roche, an experienced ESL educator with 14+ years of teaching experience. I hold the Cambridge CELTA (Grade A) and have a strong background in teaching adults from different nationalities, especially learners who want to improve their English for work, study, and life in Australia.
