About Poppy
Hi, my name is Poppy, and I have just recently graduated from Cambridge with a merit in MAST Physics. I am now undertaking a PhD in Particle Physics at Cambridge. I was at Magdalene, but I am now at Peterhouse. In my undergraduate degree I finished 2nd in my year with an 86% average, getting 90% in my second year of study. In my A-levels I achieved three A's and two A*'s. (Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Fine art and EPQ), also coming 2nd in my year for the Physics Olympiad. At GCSE level, I achieved high scores with mostly 9's and 8's. I chose Physics because I enjoy problem solving and find it fascinating! From getting offers from Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial, I know what it takes to make an application stand out! I have also had many internships, one including teaching GCSE physics at a school, so I have had some experience in teaching, as well as tutoring students in person. In my undergraduate I also participated in a programme to teach economics students mathematical (mostly calculus) skills, which was exciting. I would love the opportunity to share my knowledge of admissions, and general physics/mathematics!

I normally teach by going through past papers (best way to learn).
I do them beforehand so I have solutions prepared.
I allow the student to express how they would go about problems, then guide them to the correct answer which improves their understanding and critical thinking.
I have also undertaken an internship teaching GCSE physics at a school, so I have had some experience in teaching, as well as tutoring students in person.
In my undergraduate I also participated in a programme to teach economics students mathematical (mostly calculus) skills, which was exciting.
