About Mattia
I'm Mattia, a final year Cambridge Engineering student and mathematics tutor with 5+ years' experience and 400+ tutoring hours.
University admissions tests are my specialty: ESAT, SAT, Bocconi Online Test, alongside A-Level and GCSE maths. I sat some of these exams personally - achieving straight A*s at A-Level and 7.0 on the ENGAA (the predecessor to today's ESAT) - and I have students going through them every year, so I understand exactly what they demand.
My students have gone on to achieve great outcomes: offers from Oxbridge and Russell Group unis, top A-Level and GCSE grades and more.
Away from the desk, I speak four languages and I'm a huge sports player and fan (rugby, tennis, football, F1 in particular!). I find the same things that work in sport work in maths: consistency, smart practice, and the confidence that you can improve with the right coaching.

Everyone learns differently, so I tailor everything to the student in front of me. I work to student strengths, target the gaps, and build practice around the exact test the student is preparing for.
Lessons are focused but relaxed. We work through problems together and I make sure students understand the why, not just the method. I'm patient, easy to talk to and adaptable: if something isn't clicking we slow down, and if you're flying we push on.
I like to stay proactive between sessions too, setting targeted homework, reviewing progress, and keeping the student on track so as to make steady progress.
I offer a free 30-minute consultation to understand goals, strengths and areas to work on before starting, as well as a chance for the student to see if we're a good fit.
