About Juan
I’m a professional tutor with expertise in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, holding degrees in Chemistry and Physics (BA, MSci) from the University of Cambridge. My reputation is built on coaching students for physics, maths, and chemistry Olympiads, achieving consistently high success rates and propelling my students to the next round. Learning is about understanding. Students should not feel like they must memorise content without end. Instead, by understanding the concepts and only remembering key pieces of information it is possible to excel in exams.
In my lessons, I first try to gauge the level of understanding my students present. Any misconceptions are explained (in as many ways as needed) until they become acquainted and understood. To further bulletproof the learning, I test my students often and informally. Finally, to make sure that the understanding remains with the students, I highlight the key points that should be remembered and provide a summary of the lesson.
I bring valuable experience in coaching students for chemistry, physics, and maths Olympiads, having earned a distinction in the UK Maths Olympiad round 1 and ranking among the top 25 chemists in the UK Chemistry Olympiad during my A-levels. My proficiency in Olympiads has only advanced since then.
While my specialization lies in competition coaching and university admissions for Physics, Chemistry, and Natural Sciences, I possess extensive experience tutoring A-Level and IB mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Familiar with various exam board requirements, I tailor my preparation programs to meet the unique needs of each student. Additionally, I am equipped to teach a wide range of undergraduate physics and chemistry modules, with a focus on physical chemistry.

Juan is a great tutor with professional teaching skill and clear logic, his personalised sessions are especially useful for people who has specific target.
He is also a patient and kind person!Juan has helped me since my A level years, and even as I am in University doing Physics, Juan is extremely well versed in advanced Maths, Physics and Chemistry. He goes beyond in explaining concepts and fundamentals in a way that is logical and concise.
What I like most about his teaching is when he teaches problem solving, he doesn’t just go through the steps of the specific problem. He has taught me how to apply certain procedures to express different aspects of different problems, and I have greatly improved my general problem solving skills from him. He has taught me how to think independently without his help, which to me is beyond valuable tool.
I have known Juan for several years at university.
