About Sheena
Hello! I’m Sheena, a Cambridge graduate and Masters-educated tutor with over 14 years’ experience supporting students from primary school through to A Level. I specialise in 11+, 7+, and 8+ entrance exams, helping children from both state and independent schools gain places at top schools including NLCS, City of London, Highgate, Latymer, Beth’s Grammar, and more. I’m also a counselling trainee, which informs my compassionate, student-centred approach. I focus not just on exam success, but on building confidence, resilience, and a love of learning, tailoring each lesson to a child’s strengths, challenges, and learning style. Mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn, and achievements are celebrated to encourage independence and curiosity. In addition to tutoring, I am an independent documentary filmmaker, exploring social and economic issues. This experience allows me to bring creativity, real-world examples, and storytelling into lessons, making them engaging and memorable. I teach both in-person and online, including international students, using interactive tools and personalised materials. I also tutor Economics and Psychology at GCSE and A-Level, bringing the same engaging, supportive approach to older students. Approach to Tutoring – 11+, Common Entrance & School Entry (7+, 8+) For the last 14 years I have successfully supported students from both state and independent schools, helping them gain entry to top schools including NLCS, City of London, Highgate, Latymer, South Hampstead, Beth’s Grammar, St Olave’s, Colfe’s, and St Dunstan’s. I also work with primary students who need extra guidance or learning strategies, including those with learning difficulties, building confidence, resilience, and a love of learning. My approach is personalised, engaging, and results-oriented: - Tailored Lessons: Each session is adapted to a student’s strengths, challenges, and learning style. - Confidence-Building: I create a supportive environment where mistakes are opportunities to learn. - Engaging & Creative: I use practical examples, playful challenges, and real-world applications to make lessons lively and memorable. - Results-Oriented: I focus on helping students reach their academic targets while nurturing independent thinking and a lifelong love of learning. Lesson Details: - Typical lessons last 60–90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs. - I offer in-person and online lessons, including for international students, using interactive tools and tailored materials. Qualifications & Experience: - BA in Economics (Cambridge), MA in Globalisation and Development (SOAS) - CELTA-certified and currently completing a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling - 14+ years’ experience tutoring primary and secondary students - Professional experience in international development and documentary filmmaking, which enriches lessons with creativity and real-world context
