About Sam

I graduated from Cambridge 2 years ago, having attended King's College. This enables me to give students the best chance of attaining an offer. I have previously guided students in successful applications to Emmanuel College and St John's, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

★★★★★
• Tutored full-time since graduating from Cambridge, accruing 2000+ hours of tutoring experience.
• Students range in age from 8 to 30+ and vary widely in ability and learning style.
• Multiple past students studying at degree level in the UK and US at institutions including Duke and Oxford.
• Experience teaching AQA, Edexcel, WJEC, OCR and Eduqas at Economics A level.
• GCSE experience with Edexcel International syllabus and Cambridge International.
• Past students shortlisted for the John Locke and Marshall Society essay competitions.
• Specialties include: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Public Economics and Econometrics.
• Before university, I studied Economics (A*), Maths (A*) and Further Maths (A) at A level.
• Received 5/5 offers from Cambridge, Warwick, Bristol, Exeter and Bath.

About the lesson

The Oxbridge admissions process can appear complex and mysterious. Entrance exams, questionnaires, personal statements and interviews are just a few of the obstacles to overcome. I offer individually tailored guidance from an insider's perspective throughout students' journeys.

• Detailed feedback on essays, extracting principles to systematically achieve higher marks.
• Strong emphasis on completing past paper questions, with clear explanations of mistakes, time-saving strategies and exam technique.
• Expert in TMUA and TSA preparation. UCAS Personal Statement
• Personalised advice and guidance, informed by attending Cambridge and discussing with admissions tutors the key features that make a PS stand out.
• Correcting common mistakes: replacing generic openings, ensuring deep engagement with academic content and assistance integrating advanced theories.
• Stylistic improvements: phrasing, precision, flow of language, clarity and conciseness. Interview
• 25-minute mock interviews, mimicking the style of the real thing! We draw on questions in the same style as those that I and my friends experienced.
• Thorough review of the interview - techniques for improving the clarity of explanations, filling in any gaps in knowledge and interview technique.
• Contacts available to book interviews with multiple alumni.
