About Eirin
Most of my life I hated math.
The weeks prior to starting school I had taught myself the 12*12 mutiplication table by walking bak and forth on a ladder lying outside my house, never realizing that the other kids didn't even know how to count to 1000. When I found out that some could not even count to 20, and we had to spend class after class after class on just learning numbers, I spent the time working through my workbook. Needless to say, I had a lot of time to devote to other pursuits during my first six years of school. But at the beginning of year 6, my ability to patiently blend into the background had run out, so when I finished the workbook in October, I asked the teacher to get the book for year 7 and work on that. Hard no! I was given the other workbook, meant for kids who needed more practice in one chapter or another. Dumbfounded, I took it, and returned it full and correct a couple of weeks later, tripping to get my hands on more interesting math.
The math teacher I had in year 6 did not appreciate initiative, so instead of advancing, I was told it was my own fault that I had nothing to do in math class for the rest of the school year.
Many, many years later I wanted to end my carreer in Hospitality (hotels and tourism) and considered studying architecture. To do that, I needed some math credentials, so I signed up for an evening class and joined a class that had started one week earlier. The teacher was fantastic, but I struggled a bit with the algebra that was the subject. He asked me to stay for a couple of minutes after class, and spent that time digging into my history with math in order to "plug the math knowledge hole".
5 minutes later, the story about sixth grade was out, along with a couple of ceilings I had butted my head against later, and when I walked out after 18 minutes, I understood exactly what I had forgotten during that boring year of math.
From that day on math has been super fun and super interesting! And since that happened to me, I want to make it happen for YOU!

Tell me what you struggle with, and I will dig and dig until it becomes clear exactly where the understanding stops. Then I will show you why that hole is there, and how to not just pass it, but to plug it up so it will never, ever trip you up again.
The free lesson will be you showing me who you are, what makes your eyes light up, and how you do math, and me giving you a task to fulfill and return to me. Once I have evaluated your abilities (you DO have them!) and your problem area(s), I will taylor make lessons that build on what you are passionate about. Every little thing that reveals to me that you know how to do something, but not why, will allow me to build your skills in the most engaging way until it becomes easy peasy.
Text books, work books and endless homework? Nope! You will have to find that somewhere else, I don't do that!
But I am very good at grabbing a piece of a book you struggle with and make it perfectly understandable :D
