About Maria
I am a dedicated and reliable Grade 12 student who is committed to helping others succeed academically. With strong performance across subjects such as math, science, English, and history, I have developed effective study strategies and a deep understanding of the current curriculum that I bring into every session.
My experience working with children as an after-school instructor and camp leader has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, stay organized, and create a positive and respectful learning environment.

My approach as a tutor is centered around building confidence, understanding, and independence in each student. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to match their needs, pace, and learning preferences.
Teaching Methodology & Techniques:
I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps. I use real-life examples, visuals, and guided practice to help students fully grasp the material instead of just memorizing it. I also encourage students to ask questions and think critically, helping them build long-term problem-solving skills. For subjects like math and science, I emphasize practice and pattern recognition, while for English and history, I focus on comprehension, analysis, and clear communication.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical session starts with reviewing previous material or addressing any questions the student has. Then, I introduce the main concept of the lesson with clear explanations and examples. After that, we work through practice questions together, gradually increasing difficulty. I make sure the student can confidently complete questions on their own before moving on. At the end of the lesson, I summarize key points and, if needed, provide extra practice or tips for studying independently.
What Sets Me Apart:
What makes me different is my ability to relate to students and explain concepts in a way that actually makes sense to them. As a current Grade 12 student heading into university, I understand the current curriculum and the challenges students face today. I am patient, supportive, and focused on creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions. I also bring real experience working with kids through camps and teaching roles, which helps me keep lessons engaging and interactive.

My lessons are for students in Grades 1–11 in math, science, English, and history. I can help with homework support, test preparation, improving grades, or building foundational skills. I work well with students who need extra support, as well as those who want to get ahead and strengthen their understanding.
