About Angela

I’m a recent IBDP graduate with a 7 in English A: Language & Literature HL, so I understand the course and its challenges firsthand. My goal is to make IB English feel more approachable while helping students develop the confidence and skills to produce their best work.

I offer personalized, constructive feedback and practical guidance based on each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Whether you’re aiming for a higher grade or simply want to feel more confident in English, I’m here to help you get there.

About the lesson

My lessons are practical, collaborative, and tailored to each student’s needs. Having recently completed the IBDP with a 7 in English A: Language & Literature HL, I focus on the skills and strategies that make a real difference in IB English.

I can help IBDP English A: Language and Literature SL and HL students with:

- Paper 1: Annotating texts together, identifying literary and stylistic choices, analysing their effects, and developing unique interpretations and perspectives.

- Paper 2: Breaking down essay questions, developing strong arguments, and practising how to structure clear, sophisticated paragraphs.

- Literary works: Creating personalised cheat sheets covering themes, characters, motifs, literary devices, key moments, and possible interpretations to make revision more organised and effective.

- HL Essay: Brainstorming ideas, developing a strong line of inquiry, structuring arguments, and providing detailed feedback on drafts.

- Individual Oral: Helping students select and develop ideas, strengthen analysis, structure their oral, and giving feedback on practice runs.

- Vocabulary & expression: Expanding and diversifying vocabulary so students can express their ideas more precisely and sophisticatedly.

- Developing original interpretations: Moving beyond obvious or memorised points and learning how to formulate interesting, nuanced, and personal perspectives that can make an analysis stand out.

- Exam preparation: Practising under timed conditions, reviewing common weaknesses, and developing strategies for approaching IB assessments with greater confidence.

My aim is to help students develop the analytical and writing skills to approach IB English independently and confidently.
