About Naina

Hi! I'm Naina. I'm currently studying Biomedical Sciences at Southampton University, and have always been really passionate about the sciences.

When I was at school, I always loved to go round my class and help my classmates who were struggling, or offer a different way of explaining and working through classwork with them. I first offered tutoring to a younger family friend when I could see she was discouraged by her assignments and I wanted to help her gain her confidence back. After months of lessons and hard work, she managed to excel in her final GCSEs, achieving an impressive grade 7 in the sciences from an original grade 2!

Since then, I opened up my tutoring experience to more family friends of ages between 13-16, and have delivered similar experiences, learning to tailor and adapt my lessons to suit each person. I would love the opportunity to provide the same skills to a wider group of people who love to learn, like me!

About the lesson

A typical length of my lessons will range from 1-1.5 hours, depending on your style of learning. Worksheets, PowerPoint slides, questions/answers etc will be shared in each lesson, with school-appropriate interactive games (such as Kahoot, Quizlet and BBC Bitesize) to consolidate knowledge and make lessons more participatory.

I have been a self-employed tutor for 4 years, through college and my university course so far, helping to improve students' confidence and boosting grades from as low as 2(~E) to as high as 7+(A/A*)! My lessons are targeted at GCSE level students (~15-16 years old), however I have taught hard-working students as young as 13, who are determined to start their academic journey early!
