About Alyssa
I have six years in total tutoring and teaching at the high school and collegiate level. I also know the stressful academic demands on students. In high school, I was heavily involved in honor societies, athletics, and AP courses. In undergraduate, I was a college athlete and double major in Mathematics and Biology. Now, I have earned my Ph.D. in Biomathematics and earned a postdoc position at Rice University while raising two children. I believe students should have their own individualized approach to each subject to help them excel. A typical session with me starts by reviewing course notes and going over conceptual questions, then assisting with weekly assignments, organizing notes and building our “web of knowledge,” and if applicable prepping for exams.

I believe the learning needs to be unique and individualized for each student. Oftentimes, students just need a different perspective of the concepts presented for them to excel. I have experience teaching and tutoring in entry-level statistics courses, all levels of calculus, and linear algebra. I have experience tutoring college-level and high school students. I assist with weekly homework and quiz assignments as well as exam prep.
