About Helena
I am entering my Third Year at Durham University studying Biological sciences, a subject I am enjoying hugely. My main interest is in microbiology, but I am enthusiastic about all parts of biology, maths and chemistry and particularly love finding the links between the three! My aim is to make my lessons as much fun for me as it is for you so that hopefully I can inspire a love for science, whilst helping you achieve great grades.
Outside of academics, I am a singer and musician and also play netball and hockey - so I understand the need for balance and enjoyment whilst studying.

With over two years' experience as a private tutor, helping 8+ students achieve grades 8-9 in maths and science and A-A* at A level, I know how to support continuous improvement to optimise exam performance whilst keeping things enjoyable!
Lessons are typically one hour weekly but this is flexible based on the individual student's needs.
My core principle with teaching maths and science is developing a strong and ingrained understanding of the basics and using this to explain harder concepts. My teaching is exam-focused, meaning that learning revolves around mark scheme terminology and exam strategy, so will involve lots of acronyms, tricks, revision techniques/support and exam question practice. Having achieved over 80% in my own A level Maths, Chemistry and Biology exams, I have tried and tested personal tips and resources for students.
I offer lessons from Y9 to A level.
