About Shiza
Hi, I’m Shiza! I’m a fourth-year medical student with over five years of experience tutoring GCSE and A-level Biology. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science and have been awarded scholarships twice during medical school, including for ranking first in my entire cohort.
I focus on making complex concepts simple and understandable, breaking them down into clear, step-by-step explanations tailored to each student’s learning style. I provide personalised resources and structured guidance, helping students not just memorise, but truly understand the material. I pay close attention to detail, ensuring every lesson is thorough and adapted to each student’s needs.
Seeing my students grow and achieve their goals is what I enjoy most. From helping a student go from a grade 5 to a grade 9 in Biology to supporting others in building confidence, I take pride in turning dedication into tangible results.

My approach:
I break down complicated topics and make them easy to understand using the Feynman technique. I test understanding throughout the lesson by asking questions and encourage mistakes, as they help build stronger neural connections. After formative assessment through oral questions, I end each lesson with exam-style questions to see if the student can apply the concepts and to develop exam technique. While this is my general approach, I always tailor lessons to each student’s exact needs.
Resources:
Each student receives a personal Google Drive link containing all resources, including exam questions, homework folders, and a progress tracker. I use spaced repetition and can provide pre-made Anki flashcards or teach students how to use the application.
External media:
For pre-reading or homework, I use videos from Cognito for GCSEs and Osmosis for A-levels and Medicine.
