About Andres
My name is Andres, and I’m a bilingual student at UC Santa Cruz majoring in Biotechnology on the pre-med track. I bring a strong academic foundation and a passion for education to my tutoring sessions. Growing up speaking Spanish at home, I’ve developed not only fluency but also a deep cultural understanding of the language. Throughout high school, I regularly translated for teachers during parent meetings, which gave me real-world experience in bridging communication gaps and explaining Spanish in clear, respectful ways. In addition to my language background, I’ve also participated in research projects at the university level, which have strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and patience—skills that carry over into my tutoring. I take my role seriously and approach every session with professionalism, preparation, and care. As a bilingual UCSC student, my tutoring approach focuses on building real-world communication skills and confidence in speaking Spanish. I use a conversational method that encourages students to apply what they learn in everyday situations—whether ordering food, introducing themselves, or asking questions. A typical lesson begins with a short vocabulary warm-up, followed by a themed dialogue practice (like greetings, directions, or school-related phrases), and ends with a cultural insight or short interactive activity to reinforce learning. I adjust each session to the student’s level, whether you're just starting Spanish 1, reviewing for a GE course, or reconnecting with your heritage language. What sets me apart is my ability to switch smoothly between English and Spanish, making concepts clearer while helping you gradually think more in Spanish. I prioritize patience, encouragement, and practical use, so students feel supported every step of the way. These lessons are perfect for college students, high schoolers, and adult learners looking for a fun, relatable way to improve their Spanish without pressure or judgment.
