About Olivia
Hi! I’m Olivia, a passionate Mandarin tutor with a Master’s degree in Intercultural and International Communication and a Bachelor’s in International Journalism. Before moving into education, I worked as a journalist and editor, which has given me a strong foundation in language, communication, and storytelling. I now teach Mandarin to students in Canada, offering personalized lessons that focus on real-life language use, cultural insight, and building confidence. With experience in both media and education, I help learners truly connect with the language. My lessons are warm, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals—whether you're a beginner or looking to advance your skills.

As a bilingual tutor with a Master’s degree in Intercultural and International Communication, I am passionate about helping students connect with the Chinese language in a meaningful and engaging way. I offer personalized Mandarin lessons that focus on listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural understanding. My goal is to build each student’s confidence while making the learning experience enjoyable and effective.
I take a student-centered, interactive approach to teaching Mandarin. I use real-life scenarios, storytelling, and multimedia tools to bring the language to life. I emphasize clear communication, natural conversation, and cultural context to help learners develop practical language skills and a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to advance your skills, I tailor lessons to your learning pace and goals. I also integrate cultural elements—such as traditions, festivals, and everyday expressions—so students can truly experience the richness of the language.
What makes me unique as a tutor is my ability to bridge cultures. With a strong academic background in intercultural communication and professional experience in education, I understand how to support diverse learners—especially those from non-Chinese-speaking environments. I am patient, empathetic, and skilled at making students feel at ease, even when tackling a new language.
My Mandarin lessons are designed for learners of all ages and levels—whether you’re a young child learning your first words, a student preparing for exams, or an adult hoping to reconnect with your heritage or travel with confidence. Each lesson is adapted to your needs, goals, and interests.
Let’s make learning Chinese a fun and rewarding journey together!
