About John
John’s talents cross over many categories beyond production, as well, from engineering and consulting to teaching and performing as a guitarist. As former Director of A&R and staff producer for EMI Music Group, one of the largest record companies in the world (owner of legendary Blue Note and Manhattan Records), John worked closely with iconic performers including Diana Ross, Norah Jones and Rosanne Cash. He has produced or played on over 100 recordings for major and independent labels as well as TV and film. His stellar credits include nearly every musical genre, from jazz, rock and progressive rock to opera, orchestral and choral recordings. He received a platinum and gold record as producer for Broadway legend Michael Crawford’s (Phantom of the Opera) On Eagle’s Wings on Atlantic Records. Recent productions include Jeff Berlin’s Joe Frazier 30th Anniversary EP featuring guitar legend Steve Vai and highly acclaimed drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan). John was Executive Producer of the 2022 release Eyes Wide Open by world famous keyboardist/guitarist David Sancious (Springsteen, Sting, Clapton and Peter Gabriel). His current production work is as producer and engineer of Jeff Berlin’s September 2022 release entitled Jack Songs: An All-Star Tribute to Jack Bruce. This recording features A-List musicians including Sammy Hagar, Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee, Eric Johnson, Gregg Bissonette, Bill Frisell, Gary Husband, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Billy Sheehan and many more

Learning all the notes on the neck of the guitar, chords and how they are built, scales, modes, sight-reading and theory fundamentals. As well, we work on guitar tone, effects pedals and other sonics related to the guitar. My students leave prepared for any playing situation from bands to studio work
