About Lisa
Memorizing reactions is usually the worst way to study chemistry. Understanding the movement of electrons is the only way to actually succeed in this course.
I fix this common struggle by requiring weekly mechanism drills with feedback. You will walk through the logic of every transformation before writing a single product.
We break down the architecture of molecules. This is the core of our work. I demonstrate how to visualize transition states. We tackle the hardest problems first.
The logic must come before the memorization. I am here to help you see the hidden patterns in your textbook. Chemistry is just a visual language that you are about to learn fluently.

Graduating with a Doctor of Medicine from Stanford School of Medicine gave me a precise mental model for chemistry. Truthfully, I struggled with rote memorization during my own early coursework until I discovered the power of electron pushing.
I have spent 3 years refining how to teach students to see SN1 vs SN2 in the electrons themselves. My approach avoids abstract rules in favor of logic.
I guide university students, A-level candidates, and IB learners through resonance, acidity, and curved-arrow notation. Complex topics like stereochemistry, reaction mechanisms, and carboxylic acids become manageable once the underlying flow is clear. We analyze alcohols, ethers, and carbonyl chemistry to build a robust foundation.
You will practice synthesis pathways and interpret IR and mass spectrometry data with confidence. I treat my work as a scientist treating a patient. You deserve clarity that persists long after our time is finished.
