About Max 徐梅石
I am a college student studying business at Brigham Young University - Idaho. I have been learning Mandarin for about 5 years. Two of those years were spent as a volunteer in southern California among Chinese communities. My vocabulary includes ability to speak on topics about religious beliefs, foods, culture, the language and how to describe it, jokes, planning and scheduling, reading, writing, and setting up appointments. Living among Chinese communities has helped me understand some of the key differences between Chinese culture and American culture. I believe the key to understanding any language is understanding the emotion, logic, and reasoning of that culture. Once you feel it, it becomes easier to understand. I can also help tailor a specific custom study plan to your needs.
I also worked as a tutor for Brigham Young University Idaho and specialized in helping students with dyslexia. I trained other tutors and helped them sharpen their teaching skills.

My lessons start with understanding who you are and your needs as a student. My goal is to help you learn and improve your Mandarin abilities to help you achieve your goals. Good Mandarin requires:
- Good tones
- Understanding of the STPVO and other grammar structures
- A robust vocabulary
- Ability to understand Chinese culture and way of thinking.
-Conversational fluency (just speaking in Mandarin back and forth)
-Continuing skill and self-reliance to continue learning with the proper tools.
My lessons would improve your ability in any and all of these categories. Whether you need help just once or twice, or would like to meet regularly, my goal is to help you in whatever stage you are at.
