About Parker
A native of Music City, Nashville, I’ve been immersed in a world of music since childhood. Some of my favorite musical artists are Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, Pink Floyd, Herbie Hancock, Sting, Steely Dan, Erykah Badu and Kanye West, to name a few.
I have played many fun gigs - rock concerts, jazz dinners, cocktail parties, country dances, weddings, corporate events, etc etc. At this point in my career, I am versed in playing rock, jazz, blues, country, R&B, and classical music.
My performance journey began in junior high, and I was playing professionally by the time I started my undergraduate degree in Jazz Performance at the University of Tennessee. To further grow my artistry and network, I recently relocated to Montreal, where I am now pursuing a Master's in Music at McGill University.
My teaching, honed through years of working with musicians of all levels, is fueled by a simple goal: to end each lesson with both of us feeling inspired. I also bring practical studio expertise from my three-year role as a recording engineer and composer. Let's work together to perfect your art!

My ultimate goal in our lessons is to help you find the same joy in music that I do. One of the most important things to me about music is being able to connect to it and express yourself through it. I am happy to explore as deep as you want within a song or musical concept. I am happy to teach either aurally (by ear) or visually! Often a mix of both ways is my go-to.
I will help you to improve your technique, learn songs, learn music theory, and learn to speak through your instrument.
As an instructor, I aim to custom fit our lessons to your musical goals; I love it when a student comes to me with questions about a song or musical idea. However, I also want to help you find a good place to start!
I am experienced in writing and composing, and also I love giving constructive feedback on your music.

Perfect! Parker is, without a doubt, the teacher who has shown the strongest teaching instinct of anyone I've worked with.
From our very first lessons, he took the time to understand how I learn and what I need as a student. I'm honestly not the easiest person to teach—I tend to question everything and I've always been a bit "teacher-resistant." Somehow, Parker figured out how to approach me in a way that made me want to learn instead of shutting down and being desperate or bloked.
Learning the double bass as a guitarist/singer or bass player is a completely different challenge, and Parker has been incredibly encouraging throughout that process. At the same time, he never lets me stay in my comfort zone. He knows when to support me, when to push me, and when to challenge me just enough to keep me progressing.
If you're looking for someone who combines empathy, great pedagogy, and the ability to adapt to each student while still helping them grow, I can't recommend Parker highly enough.

Parker is wonderful. I’ve gotten to work with him as a gigging musician live and in the studio. He carries an ability to hang with pretty much anyone. I’d feel comfortable calling him for any musical situation. Well rounded and a passion for what he does!
Parker is an amazing bass teacher, especially for beginners. He explains things clearly and makes learning feel easy and fun. After just 3 lessons, I can already play two of my favorite songs on the bass. Highly recommend him to anyone starting out or looking to build confidence quickly. My name is Andy Sigler and I'm an associate professor of music composition at the University of Tennessee. I had the pleasure of working with Parker when he was a student here, and I'm happy to share my endorsement of him as both a musician and as an educator.
His performances and recordings for my course were very well executed, and his ability to articulate his processes and concepts was of the highest level. He was quite thoughtful, well-spoken, extremely versant in all things music, and added a great deal to the overall tenor of the class. Great player, great teacher, great musician. Highest recommendation!Parker is an awesome bass player and one of the coolest guys I know.. he is destined for greatness and any association with him would benefit any potential musician in a myriad of ways.
