About Cory
My name is Cory (he/him). I began studying drums and percussion at 10 years old focusing on Western Classical, Jazz and competitive Indoor Drum Line. Over time I began to study guitar, piano, ukulele, voice and West African Malinke percussion. I have extensive experience writing, recording and performing in a variety of bands including, but not limited to Jazz combos, R&B, Neo-Soul, Blues, Rock, Theater and Serbian Čoček. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Therapy from Arizona State University. I became a Board-Certified Music Therapist in 2016 (cert#12996) and have worked with all ages and abilities including, but not limited to special needs, Military, Pediatric Hospital, General Hospital, Hospice, Nursing Homes and Substance Use Programs. I am greatly energized by the teacher-student process. The learning goes both ways as we work together to develop the plan and approach to music that best fits your individual goals and learning styles. Music making should be fun and free! My focus is to make sure you get out of our time what you are looking for and feel confident to continue studying the art of music.
