About William
As a teacher and a principal, I never used the word no to a child. It was not necessary. Instead, what can we do, what are our options, what other choices can we make to get what it is we need. Teaching to me is about learning, not what I think they should know, but what they need to be successful in their world today. Teaching a child how to learn is the best gift you could give them, especially when it's a struggle like it has been for me my entire life. I was a non-reader for most of my life and today still use technology, like AI and voice to text to send you this message. There is no wrong way to learn. The only thing wrong is not learning altogether. I'm also an author. I write in complete rhyme and poetry. My book The Invisible Backpack "A Life of Courage" is a testimony to my life and how I persevered through challenging times. Below is one of the first entries in my book A dedication to children. Children Are So Precious How can anyone get so mad they must abuse a child They have so much joy to give you in a manner that is so mild They are so honest in the way that they speak and how they judge us all Don’t abuse that child’s morale let them stand up tall Remember what it is like to crawl before you could walk Please don’t strike that child, sit down and have a talk Show them what is to like and believe in a spirit Don’t show them pain and agony let them feel your hurt Turn it over to your God let those feelings of anger be stripped away Enjoy your relationship please don’t lead them astray Please remember words you speak can never be taken back So before you tongue-lash a child think of the damage retract I've also developed a web page to help support anybody that lives with a disability like I do which is Tourette's Syndrome. Please enjoy the website and learn a lot about my story and my movement. (concealed information) Here is my contact information. I'd love to explore options for any child that wants to learn a new way. (concealed information) (concealed information)

I'm a retired elementary first through 5th grade teacher, elementary and middle school principal from Northern California. I currently live in St. Augustine, FL. I believe in the whole language approach to reading for all emergent readers. I believe in hands-on, interactive education, where the student is engaged with their learning via goals, expectations, and outcomes. I am an exciting and energetic man who is an author, a poet, a chef, and loves humor and physically active learning. Enjoy my website where you can see my book, my mission, and my story. (concealed information) I look forward to engaging with all levels of elementary students as they embark on the reading and writing process with joy, passion, and success. I offer many different opportunities for challenged or disabled learners and would love to have a discussion if a certain price is needed, long term commitments, and references available from past students who are now adults. I'm not here to make a lot of money It's more about getting students and children a chance to learn their way and be successful citizens in today's world. Everything's negotiable and I'm here to help.
