About Shaharyar
I am a qualified attorney with eight years of experience. I am passionate about pursuing the study of law and helping others to understand it. In fact, I personally believe that everyone should have an elementary understanding of the idea of law in society. I also have strong interests in history and the development of social orders, and how that is reflected in the way a legal system operates. It is why I enjoy the aspects of legal research in the common law which overlap with historical research. I hope to encourage the same interest in students. I also have a resurgent interest in literature. Particularly because I adhere to Dworkin's ideas about the study and interpretation of law being much like that of literature. I would be happy to explore that with an interested student. I also have an avid interest in natural sciences. When you don't find me with a law book it will probably be with a pair of binoculars spotting birds. Alternatively, I may be whittling a bear or building a small glider.

I like to focus on breaking down subjects and key concepts for students. I prefer to start with an introductory discussion to understand what students already know about a particular subject. Studying law requires a specialized mental framework. Students are often told they need to learn to "think like a lawyer". While this advice is vague my approach relies on helping students develop the practical skills they need to understand key legal concepts and apply them in their studies as well as in their future careers. Whether I encounter a law student or a person wanting to understand and study legal concepts, my aim is to help them develop their worldview in a way that instills intellectual curiosity in the law and makes "Learning the Law" more approachable.
