About Patrick
Hi! I’m Patrick, and I graduated in 2020 from Melbourne Grammar. I currently study a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, with a Chancellor’s Scholarship.
Outside the classroom, I’m a keen debater among other things - at school, I won the DAV’s Asian Studies, British Parliamentary, and Schools competitions.
Having completed VCE with a 99.90, I find that succeeding in it is a strategic endeavour as much as an academic one. Knowing how to tackle your subject, how to hone your skills and focus on areas of weakness going into SACs and exams is just as valuable as being bright, a good writer, or a good maths problem-solver. At the end of the day, your Study Scores and ATAR come down to what you can put down on paper over the course of perhaps 8 or 10 hours in total across the year.

My approach to Latin tutoring is all about maximising your performance in those 8-10 hours. I have:
- Experience with poetry, particularly the Aeneid, and the background to it
- A good knowledge of the Classical World
- Knowledge of which text commentaries will give you the most complete understanding of your lines
- Tried and tested essay-writing techniques for the extended response section of the exam
- Tried and tested unseen techniques
