About Joe
I'm a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh with a Bachelor's degree in Astrophysics. I undertook multiple research projects including observation and analysis of two distant star clusters as well as a project involving the identification and analysis of a near-Earth asteroid which will be proposed to the European Space Agency as a potential fly-by target for the Hera mission. I also tutored Higher/A-level physics to secondary school students for a year who went on to achieve A grades in their exams.

The main focus of my lessons is you, the student. As a tutor, it's my job to help you feel confident when approaching new ideas and problems. I want you to experience the same enthusiasm for the subject as I do so that you can enjoy learning about physics or maths.
My lessons are typically aimed at students taking physics or maths at GCSE or A-level/National 5 or Higher or any international equivalent. Lessons will typically be at least an hour or more depending on your preference. I will cover topics firstly that YOU want to cover so that you can get answers to any questions you have and so that I know where you'd like to improve upon. Then we'll move onto building a more fundamental understanding of topics with some related problems so that . This core understanding is the key to gaining confidence around unfamiliar topics. At the end of each lesson, I'll give you a few exam-style questions that will be specific to you so that I can gauge your strengths and weaknesses and move forward accordingly.
As I mentioned, I have previously tutored for a year for secondary school physics students. I love seeing the progress students make and I'd love to see you do well!

Joe was an excellent tutor who not only concisely explained areas that I had been confused about but also expanded upon the work that had been taught at school. He helped me greatly throughout my year and without him, I wouldn't have gotten an A at Higher Physics.
