Associate Professor Dr. Dayang Siti Hazimmah binti Ali is currently a Dean of School of Engineering and Technology (SET) in University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) and an Associate Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering started my career in Sepang Institute of Technology Sarawak (SIT) (now known as SIT International College) as a Lecturer in June 2000 until June 2001 and continued working as Senior Lecturer in Kolej Poly Tech MARA (KPTM) from June 2002 until December 2015. I obtained her first Bachelor Degree in Materials Engineering from University Science Malaysia (USM) in 1999 and later in 2000 I finished my Master Science in Materials Engineering in University Science Malaysia (USM). I received my Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Construction Materials) from University Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Malaysia in 2015. My academic training and 24 years of experience working as academician prepare myself to be an effective researcher and instructor in college and university. My doctoral dissertation was conducted in consultation with Prof Prakash and Dr. Khairunisa, examined the use of a relatively new methodology for the design of experiments in Taguchi Method. In my research, I developed the composites with entitle Investigation on the properties of Acrylic Emulsion Polymer based Ordinary Portland Cement Concrete Reinforced with hook steel fiber. During my teaching experience, I was also fortunate enough to have served as a lecturer for an intermediate level course on mechanical, civil and electrical engineering in previous colleges. I found that my professional experience as an academician and researcher provided me with a broad view that was useful in assisting students with projects and assignments. These experiences have built my confidence and an interest in teaching and I look forward to the opportunity to not only teach existing courses, but also work to develop new ones. In addition to my dissertation research, other areas that interest for my future research stem from my goal of developing Oil Palm Frond as Composite Materials and other Advanced Materials. Two of the research studies through UTS Grant had been completed. There are a couple of projects that I plan to continue and grow with the support of the UTS grant and wishing with the support of external grant in the future.
