About Louise
A former full-time secondary school English teacher, accredited by UCL and the Teach First programme, I am currently studying for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education at the University of Oxford. For the past two years, I have been teaching KS3 and KS4 students (Year 7 to Year 11) the English Language and Literature curricula, while studying towards my Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) through University College London. I offer tutoring sessions for GCSE, A-Level and IB curricula in English Language and Literature, History, Philosophy & Theory of Knowledge, as well as university application coaching, especially for Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities. Before I joined the classroom, I completed my Master of Philosophy in Political Thought and Intellectual History at the University of Cambridge, focusing on 19th century German philosophy and politics. My master’s was a continuation from my undergraduate work, also at Cambridge, in Human, Social, and Political Sciences, with a particular focus on Social Anthropology, Political Philosophy and History. Having studied at the University of Cambridge for both undergraduate as well as graduate degrees, I am familiar with the tutorial method and indeed, try to incorporate it as much as possible within the classroom. Socratic-style tutorials are, in my opinion, the very best avenue for fostering critical thinking and ambition in learners, whilst nurturing the pedagogically essential relationship between teacher and student.
