About MJ
As a tutor, I bring a warm, homely personality that makes students feel comfortable and supported in their learning journey. I create a welcoming, judgement-free environment where students feel confident asking questions and expressing their thoughts. My attention to detail ensures that no aspect of their learning is overlooked, allowing me to identify strengths and areas for improvement with precision. I am also deeply accepting and understanding, recognising that every student learns at their own pace and in their own way. This patient, tailored approach is reflected in my teaching methods, which focus on breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, providing clear explanations, and using engaging, structured lessons that cater to individual needs. My ability to connect with students on a personal level allows me to motivate, encourage, and guide them towards success, making learning both effective and enjoyable.

Under my tutelage, you can take Cs and Ds up to Bs and As in the span of a few months or even weeks as I focus on; Helping my students create the most sophisticated discursive, argumentative or creative essays that they can for their portfolios, Understanding narrative and literary techniques used in writing and reading assessments such as Reading for Understanding, Analysis and Evaluation (RUAE), Navigating English grammar and spelling, Developing Critical Reading skills, Mastering spoken English so they speak more eloquently, and Understanding the SQA marking scheme and where they can pick up marks in exams.
