About Lavanya
I hold an M.Arch in Sustainable Architecture and have 8 years of experience teaching and mentoring architecture students. My passion for the field stems from an interest in how design shapes human experience, behavior, and environmental interaction. Teaching allows me to guide learners in transforming ideas into thoughtful, functional, and aesthetically compelling designs. I emphasize patient, structured, and supportive instruction. Lessons are tailored to the student’s pace and creative style, providing feedback, demonstrations, and guidance to foster both confidence and technical competence. I encourage experimentation within a disciplined framework to develop strong design thinking. Outside teaching, I engage with sustainable design research, architectural literature, and concept sketching. These activities allow me to provide current, real-world insights to students. Architecture lessons begin with fundamental design principles, including proportion, form, balance, and spatial organization. I use sketching exercises, conceptual development, and visualization techniques to help learners express ideas clearly. Early lessons focus on fostering observation, creativity, and an understanding of how spaces function and communicate.
As students progress, we explore advanced concepts such as circulation, materials, lighting, sustainable practices, and project planning. In advanced lessons, learners undertake full design projects, from conceptual sketches to detailed proposals. By the end, students gain strong creative confidence, spatial reasoning, and design discipline applicable to professional architectural practice.
