About Darby
In college, I was a go-to helper for my classmates in a variety of subjects. I loved being a study partner and was more-than- willing to assist at all hours!
In high school, I was a NHS member who tutored younger student in math and science a couple times per week.
I have no intention of doing a student's homework for them because that's a waste of money. I'm mich more interested in helping students become proficient so they can do even greater things in the world!

I like to try various teaching methods until one "sticks". Then we stick with it or modify our approach as needed!
I believe learning is like teamwork. It takes effort as well as understanding from both sides. I will not teach "at" a student but rather "with" them. As such, my favorite way to teach is to create example problems and walk through them step-by-step identifying problem areas where the student is unconfident in what needs to be done. I also greatly enjoy 3D models and out-of-the-box explanations. I once helped someone understand electromagnetic field theory with 3 bracelets and a pencil!
I can help with:
- Math topics from algebra and geometry all the way up to 3D calculus, partial differential equations, and boundary value problems.
- Physics subjects such as general dynamics/mechanics, optics, theoretical mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and MatLab/Maple.
- Chemistry subjects up to lower level Biochemistry. organic chemistry and biochemistry.
- Biology topics include high school biology, research design, and undergraduate microbiology.
