About Bethany
Graduating this summer with a BA (Hons) in History and American Studies, I am confident that my educational experience and passion for learning makes me an ideal tutor. With experience volunteering in an educational environment as well as volunteering with children outside of the classroom, I am confidently able to gain the trust and respect of those willing to learn.
American history is my main interest, as well as international relations throughout the 20th century, however I believe it is important for all aspects of history to be delved into, as it helps create our present.
In addition to this, my essay writing skills and English language/literature in general remain what I am most confident in. I will be more than comfortable tutoring at primary and secondary school level for this subject, as I have an eye for detail, essential to confident spelling and grammar checks.
My experience in different educational settings furthers as I took a year abroad at an American university. The changing way in which assignments are given and what is expected led me to write and learn in a variety of different ways, leaving me able to adapt and teach most confidently under any circumstance.

When beginning classes, we will go over a broad outline of the topic, picking out where knowledge is lacking and where there is space for improvement. From there we can work together on figuring out what you want to focus on, as well as what you find interesting. One important aspect of teaching, I think, is to make it interdisciplinary, so whatever the topic is for the class, we will be relating it to different fields and subjects to help form a deeper understanding.
