About Amanda
Hi, I’m Amanda! With over 8 years of experience as both a tutor and mentor, I help Grade 12 students excel in English and Science by combining strong academic knowledge with personalized, engaging strategies. As a York University Honors B.A. (Psychology & Literature) and B.Ed. student, I bring both subject expertise and teaching skills to my sessions. I use tools like Canva for study visuals, Kahoot for interactive review, and Notion for organization to make learning clear and effective, while also specializing in supporting students with disabilities through inclusive approaches. Beyond academics, I love mentoring students to build confidence and motivation - and fun fact: I’m passionate about baking, which reminds me that learning, like baking, is all about finding the right recipe for success!

I make English and Science simple, engaging, and personalized for each student. Along with tutoring, I’ve also been a mentor - helping students adjust to new challenges, stay motivated, and build confidence in their academic journey.
A typical lesson starts with a quick review, followed by focused practice on key topics like essay writing, problem-solving, or exam prep. I keep lessons interactive by using tools such as Canva for study visuals, Kahoot for quizzes, and Notion for organizing study schedules and notes, so students have practical strategies they can use outside our sessions too.
What sets me apart is my 8+ years of experience, combined with my background in Psychology, Literature, and Education at York University. I specialize in working with students of all abilities, including those with disabilities, and always create a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
My goal is to not only help you succeed academically, but also to build skills and confidence that last beyond the classroom.
